Well pump house doubles as a turkey blind?

14 Apr, 2023

We had our well dug in October of 2021. It is capped off and just sticks out of the ground. I meant to build a small shack for it before and didn't get to it until now because the ground was covered in snow...well, the time has come...

I have a pile of extra odds and ends wood and siding pieces left over from the house build and decided to use what I could. I did not plan to buy any new wood.

In my mind, I thought I would build a small shack by the house because I had power for my tools there and use the tractor to bring it down later. Well...just like some of my other projects, this one got bigger once I started.

The framing and siding went up pretty quick.

The window cutout was an idea I had...I thought, how cool would it be to make this a dual-purpose building?

...Turkey blind is what came to my mind...

But the roof...I had to think on that a bit...

I did have to go buy hinges and hardware

My little well pumphouse shack was coming together pretty nicely, but it was getting pretty heavy.

The well pipe just sticks out of the ground. This shack will go over it. Here is my husband leveling the ground before placement.

Northern Lights Drilling drilled our well, and we ran the well pump and electrical to the house ourselves, ...checkout our previous blog post if you want to know how we did it!

Tractors come in handy, it is my firm belief that anyone with some land needs one! Colors were chosen to blend in with the forest, some was leftover paint.

Here is the finished well pump house which will someday serve as a turkey blind? It does sort of blend in with the surrounding area. Now I just need a padded seat to sit on that pipe.

I did not purchase any wood. I had the polycarbonate roofing material, but I had to buy mounting strips. All said and done, I purchased hardware, paint, mounting strips, and some screws...approximate cost $60. Not bad.

Another task completed. Always more to go...Thank you for sharing my house build journey!
